Almost a year ago, Rhitten was born. God blessed us with so much more than we even knew at the time…we had spent nine months wondering what he would look like, sound like, and act like. We wondered what it would be like to watch him grow. Let me just say that it is the MOST incredible thing to fall in love with your child and be able to witness every moment of his growth! It is hard to fully grasp how much he has grown in just over 11 months, but looking back on photos from that first day in the hospital room til now is just amazing! He went from being helpless, tiny, fragile and sleeping most of the time to an energetic bundle of mischievous boyhood with an ADORABLE sense of humor! He walks, talks, claps, waves, plays peek-a-boo, sings, and throws EVERYTHING. If anyone had asked us if we wanted to be parents two years ago we would have said “yes!”, but we would not have known how deeply we would grow to LOVE being parents. We aren’t just protectors and providers…we are comforters, nurturers, cuddle-buddies and friends to him too. Nothing has ever brought so much joy into our lives…we are proud, blessed and honored to be the parents to such an amazing little boy!!
And that is a direct influence on our business. You may have noticed how often we post photos of Rhittie. This is because he is the catalyst for our lives…and a huge driving force behind our desire to become full-time photographers. Right now, our income comes primarily from the painting business Shayne runs, and it is honestly hard to wrap our heads around an income coming exclusively from photography. I wonder if it sometimes seems like we LOVE the art of photography so much that there is no way it could become our only source of income! But that is indeed our goal. We talked in an earlier post about the importance of education and we have put SO much time, money and effort into constantly educating ourselves already! We do not consider this to be a hobby or a side job…and we want to make that clear to anyone who sees our business or our work…so we are putting in the time. We identify weaknesses and we address them. This is our dream. We both want to be very involved in the everyday life of our son. We both want to educate him and watch him grow and we want him to be a part of the business too…whether he chooses to pursue photography or not, he will grow up helping with the little things and will feel very much like he has ownership in our family business. So yes, you will see lots of photos of Rhittie over the weeks, months and years to come…and probably always will! He is the pride and joy of our hearts and we will ALWAYS show him off and will probably never stop talking about him. He is the mascot and the sidekick of our brand and he deserves some face time!
So, in the future, when you book a wedding or an engagement with us, expect to meet him!! He is truly the best thing that ever happened to us!
