Nine months ago, we were overwhelmed with excitement when we learned we were going to be welcoming ANOTHER precious little person into our family! For those of you who have had more than one child, you know what I mean when I say that there is JUST as much to learn the second time around…we’ve been amazed at the way God has had His great big loving hand all over this pregnancy!!
One of the “unknowns” was how Rhittie was going to deal with the news…just the smile on his face describes perfectly the joy, excitement and incredible tenderness he’s constantly showing for his new little brother. He loves him. So much. It’s been funny because he continually says the baby’s name in front of everyone when we haven’t shared it yet because we’ve STILL to make a final decision on a middle name!! We know his first name, and it’s SO PRECIOUS, and we’re stuck between a couple middle name options. Which is hilarious because YESTERDAY was the due date!!
Yup, yesterday was the “big day” and it went by uneventfully. I’m actually writing this now because I was reflecting on the past nine months and thought it would be neat to share some of what has led up to this soon-to-happen birth.
Just like with Rhittie (yet entirely different at the same time), it has been a test and a testimony of faith. The doctors found an antibody that they couldn’t identify and after a lot of repeated blood tests (and way too many needles) they decided it was Lutheran B, an antibody that can cause anemia in the mother and/or child if the titer levels were high enough. Then came a series of tests to determine the titer levels of course, through which Ashley was an absolute champion of faith. She repeatedly told doctors and nurses that she wasn’t worried at all, and that no matter what the test results said, she trusted God completely. Her titer levels came back VERY LOW, and we gave God a huge praise!! He is so good!
We’re excited to meet this little guy (and to name him, officially, haha). Maybe we just have to see him to decide on his middle name! Who knows? God does, I’m sure. All I know is we’re ready. We can’t wait to share his birth story with you…I’m sure it will be a testimony of God’s great loving hand, just as always!!
