Colten & Victoria | Engaged
an autumn college campus engagement session, Charlottesville VA
We STILL can’t get over our engagement session with Colten and Victoria! The morning of their shoot, the weather prediction was still mostly sunny and warm. Then, at about mid-day it suddenly changed! A massive thunderstorm had formed and was headed straight for our portrait location!
Now, photographing in the rain is really not as big a deal as most might think. But this was going to be an utter DOWNPOUR…and it was. On the ride to Charlottesville, Shayne and I just kept praying as the sky got darker, the rain got heavier and the thunder got louder. We were most concerned with how Colten and Victoria were feeling and were worried that they would be discouraged.
However, when we met up with them in the parking garage to wait out the storm they greeted us with smiles! Despite the dreary weather and the HOT humidity that would follow, these two remained SO positive throughout the entire shoot!
Not only did they surprise us with how they responded to the weather but they also BLEW our minds with how comfortable they were in front of our camera! It’s one of the hardest things to not become awkward when you are being photographed. We normally see the guys struggling more with the idea of even having their picture taken.
BUT these two were AMAZING! Their smiles were SO genuine, they were 100% themselves. They embraced every single second of their session! It was filled with so much love, laughter, and dancing and they didn’t care who was watching!!! Shayne and I LOVE when we don’t have to instruct our couples the whole time on what to do and we can just document the love story as it unfolds naturally!
It’s hard to believe that Victoria and I met when we were in the 3rd grade (EIGHTEEN years ago!!!). It’s just so crazy to be able to witness this season of her life! This was the first time ever meeting Colten but even during that short amount of time I could tell that these two were meant for each other!
Victoria and Colten, we had such a BLAST during your session and we could not be happier for your upcoming wedding! We can’t wait to see all the BIG plans that God has in store for you as husband and wife!
